Week 4 Report

This Week: At the beginning of this week, we met with Dr. Hammill again so that we could narrow down the scope of our project. He told us more about what he really wants from the product that is not already readily available. He emphasized that he would like us to make a temperature sensor that could help detect post-surgical infection earlier than normal and lead to better health outcomes for the patients. He also wanted us to improve the user/doctor experience with the product but increasing the battery life of the device and figuring out a way for the data collected to automatically be sent to the doctor without relying on the patient. Lastly, he wanted us to try to figure out a way to measure edema. He mentioned that he worked with a senior design group that had previously worked on this project with no such luck, but we decided to accept the challenge. Throughout the week we continued to work on the website. We now have a basic format and began putting in information, like the weekly reports, although the website is not published yet. Lastly, we wrote our project scope and have begun to revise it based on the comments Dr. Klaesner made.

Next steps:

1. Revise project scope

2. Research/begin writing preliminary report

3. Continue working on website
